TIME- SENSITIVE ISSUE

The Wild Horses & Burros Are Being Managed to Extinction!

Contact Your Lawmaker Before It Is Too Late

Your Taxpayer dollars are paying for this horrific abuse and

the BLM's plan is to exterminate the Wild Horses & Burros that are in the wild and in the BLM holding pens!

Below are your Lawmaker's phone and emails.

Also points to make.

Now that there are fewer than 40,000 wild horses ranging-free in America and with Sec. Zinke looking at killing the balance of all the remaining wild horses at the BLM corrals (about 40-60,000), we seem to be facing a very serious time-sensitive issue where the BLM (Sec. Zinke) is considering slaughtering (soon) the only known cost-effective solution to a potential problem with a national scope; this emerging prion problem.

So what happens if Secretary Zinke allows slaughter of the only animals (wild horses) which can effectively abate the prion vectors in the wilderness and forest lands of the BLM and USFS? Who knows? But on its face, I think it has disaster written all-over it. It reminds me of a forester who told me that ‘BLM’ stands for Bureau of Large Mistakes.

Killing the only potential natural and readily available solution to a couple of very serious emerging problems seems like the ‘bad idea’ of all time to me!

Let’s examine the benefits of harnessing the natural abilities of wild horses to once again serve mankind by letting them thrive in the wild & help out the environment instead of killing them:

By leaving the Wild Horses out in their natural habitat in the Wild...

  1. BLM saves about $50million/annually in costs related to keeping the 40,000-60,000 horses corralled; and,

  2. Mitigated wildfire fuels saves insurance industry hundreds of millions annually in losses as a small fraction of their current multi-billion dollar losses; and,

  3. Less fire means less fire suppression costs to the USFS (USFS spends 1/2 of its budget on fires), and savings to USFS and BLM-DOI translates to taxpayer savings; and,

  4. Grass and brush abatement by wild horses (immune to prions) may alter prion disease vectors (grasses and brush) and introduction into game animals (deer, elk, moose) that are now succumbing to the prion-caused chronic wasting disease (CWD), which is good for hunting lobbies ($10b annually). Having the immune wild horses abate excess grasses and brush may also provide some fire-walling against transmission of emerging prion diseases into domestic livestock herds from deer and elk (mad-cow – livestock lobby) and potentially infecting humans (medical community). Releasing wild horses back into the wilderness and creating a pilot program to study their affect on CWD may lead to some insights and methodologies for protecting livestock; and,

  5. Last but not least, Wild Horses and Burros provide highly beneficial symbiotic mutualisms to all of their historical ecosystems and add to the aesthetics and tradition of the American wilderness. This final statement is consistent with the Congressional preamble to the 1971 Wild Burro and Horse Protection Act.

ACT NOW:  TELL CONGRESS TO SUPPORT WILD HORSE AND BURRO PROTECTION REFORMS IN 2023

Late last year, U.S. House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Raúl Grijalva (D, AZ-03) and U.S. Representatives David Schweikert (R, AZ-06), Joe Neguse (D, CO-02), Steve Cohen (D, TN-09), Dina Titus (D, NV-01), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R, PA-01) introduced a comprehensive bipartisan bill, the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Protection Act of 2022 (H.R. 9154), which would protect wild horses and burros from slaughter, prioritize their humane management, restore western habitat, promote partnerships with American veterans and nonprofit organizations, and increase transparency within the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) and U.S. Forest Service's (USFS) Wild Horse and Burro Programs.

This bill promoted much-needed humane, commonsense, and fiscally responsible reforms that would stop the endless cycle of removals and keep these beloved symbols of freedom in the wild where they belong. While we work to ensure this legislation is again introduced in 2023, please take a moment to keep the pressure on your U.S. Representative by asking them to support messaging in line with 2022's H.R. 9154, the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Protection Act!

1. Call the Capitol Hill Switchboard at 202-225-3121 and ask to be connected to your Representative. You will likely be asked to leave a message. Simply say:

“I'm a constituent, and I'm calling to ask you to please support messaging in line with 2022's H.R. 9154, the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Protection Act. This language included in the comprehensive bill would deliver meaningful change to how wild horses and burros are managed and promote real transparency and accountability for a federal program that has cost taxpayers billions.”

2. Follow your call up with a personalized email or letter to your lawmakers

Wild Heart Sanctuary's mission is to raise awareness and restore the protection to the Wild Horses & Burros.

The Wild Heart Herd is here to ignite your compassion and passion for helping the herds still remaining in the wild. America's wild horses are on land that is legally theirs, but the BLM continues their extermination plan for their own agendas....cattle, slaughter, mineral extraction mining, fracking, and more.

Please take a few minutes and be the voice for the voiceless!

The clock is ticking, and the is not much time left for

these precious sentient beings.

They have done nothing to deserve this.

Horses symbolize the American West, carried history on their backs

& have helped countless people heal.

It's time for us to unite to protect these magnificent

wild creatures so they can live their lives wild & free!

Don't hesitate! Please, act now because there isn't much time.

Thanks for your Support
